STONEHAMMER ~ DARK ALE

Sampled on draught this beer poured a clear dark brown with ruby highlights, and a good-sized tan head, which left some nice lacing. The aroma contained notes of dark fruit, nuts and caramel, cocoa and toasted malts. Earthy floral hops and hay are present but very subdued. The taste was quite nutty with hints of dark fruit, molasses, sweet malts, caramel and an earthiness. A mild hoppy bitterness finishes the beer. The mouthfeel was smooth and the carbonation was light. A lovely example of a classic British brown ale.
