Sampled from a tin ‘Old Tomorrow’ is a CPA (Canadian Pale Ale – not as hoppy as its cousins in the States) with rye and uses both old and new world hops. It poured a slight hazy light copper colour with a large sudsy white head that with average retention and some light lacing. Crackers and biscuit malts were dominant on the nose but there were also notes of yeasty esters, light citrus and dry earthy hops. The taste was balanced with lots of cereal, light caramel malts, a smidgen of lemon citrus and rye spiciness. The finish is off dry with a little lingering aftertaste. The beer is closer to English Pale Ale than American pale ale – as what may be expected from a Canadian interpretation. The carbonation and the body were on the light side of medium. This beer is cheap and cheerful, a good sessionable brew to knock back with friends at a back yard BBQ.
