EVENT HORIZEN ~ HALO

This interesting brew is a Stout with Sarsaparilla, one of the main flavours of root beer. Sampled on draught, the beer poured an opaque very dark ebony with a thin mocha beige head. The nose had notes of chocolate, sweet sarsaparilla, dark malts , and perhaps a bit of vanilla. Chocolate, caramel sweetness, herbal sarsaparilla, roasted malts and coffee round out the taste. It is like drinking a creamy root beer. I prefer this to the ‘hard’ root beers that I have sampled. I will admit, root beer is my guilty pleasure, so I really liked this one, but sparingly. It has a medium to full body, and average carbonation. This is a whimsical brew, recommended to root beer lovers.

CREATIVE DIFFERENCES ~ HALO
Creative differences is a dry hopped pale ale. Sampled on draught the beer poured a hazy orange amber with a generous reliant pillowy white head, that left lacing before settling into a cap. The aroma contained lots of tropical fruit - mango , papaya and passionfruit, orange along with other fruity notes. The taste too has lots of juicy fruit sweetness, especially orange and other tropicals at the forefront. This is followed by a caramel malt backbone and finishes with a slightly resiny New World hop. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation and a slightly fruity subtly bitter finish. Very delicious, worth checking out.

MAGIC MISSILE ~ HALO BREWING
Magic Missile is an incredibly tasty dry hopped pale ale. Sampled on draught the beer poured a slightly hazy deep golden orange colour with a moderate foamy head. The head did not linger but left some lacing. The aroma contained notes of tropical fruit – papaya, orange, and mango with a biscuit bready body, floral and earthy notes and piny resiny hops. The taste to has lots of tropical fruit notes, with some discernible grains and citrusy-piny hops. The hop presence if abundant but not overly bitter. The hops lingered in the aftertaste. The beer was full bodied with moderate carbonation. I really enjoyed this one and will and can’t wait to return to it. Looking forward to trying more from this newish brewery. Excellent drinking.
