FICKLE MISTRESS ~ BLOCK 3

Fickle Mistress is a dry hopped kettle sour. It is fermented with lactobacillus and then dry hopped with Citra. Sampled on draught, this beer poured a hazy orange-gold colour, with a small white head that dissipated quickly. The nose had the lactic tartness along with tons of sour lemony citrus, tart fruit and citrusy hops. The taste follows the nose with lemony citrus, subtle bread malts, and citrus hops. The carbonation was lively and the finish was crisp and dry. Quite refreshing!

PARTY ALL THE TIME ~ BLOCK 3
Party all the Time is another hybrid of Belgian Ales and American Pale ale. it was advertised as a Belgian IPA. Sampled on draught the beer poured rich golden amber. The aroma was quite subtle with hints of Belgian yeasts. The flavour had dough yeasts, some bright lemongrass, and herbal notes. The hops are not overdone making this a very palatable brew.

GUY ON A BUFFALO ~ BLOCK 3

Guy on a Buffalo is an oddly named coffee porter from Block 3. Sampled from a bottle, the beer had a dark pour with a cap of off white head. The nose was robust and contained notes of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Taste was exactly as was expected based on the nose. The coffee the beer is brewed with is from Eco Café in St. Jacob’s Ontario. The coffee and the subtle sweetness are nicely balanced. The body was medium and the finish had a nice coffee bitterness to it. Quite a nice coffee porter. Photo from: Block 3

BEAUTY AND THE BELGIAN ~ BLOCK 3

Beauty and the Belgian is Block 3’s newest offering, it is a Belgian Amber Ale. Sampled on draught, it poured a coppery orange colour with a small off white head. The nose has notes of toffee, spicy Belgian yeasts, bread, lemon citrus and sweet malts. Taste is very similar, it begins with the caramel malts with sweet Belgian yeasts, flowed by a little citrus fruitiness, plums and spice. Its carbonation is mellow and its body is at the low end of medium. It finished with a boozy warmness. Very palatable.

Malts: Pilsner, Crystal 110, Carafa Special I
Hops: German Magnum, Styrian Goldings

KING STREET SAISON ~ BLOCK 3

King Street Saison is Block 3’s flagship beer.  Sampled on draught, it has a opaque  amber-straw colour with a lively frothy white head.  The aroma contained notes of grains, lemon citrus and a hints of black peppercorn and coriander seed.  The flavour contains lots of grain with lemon citrus and sweet malts. It has a clean crisp  dry peppery finish.  Very pleasant beer for hot summer days and cool fall evenings.
