CITRA GROVE ~ BENCH BREWING

Bench brewery is a newly opened micro/nano brewery in the Niagara escapement surrounded by vineyards and orchards. Located in Beamsville, in an old school house, Bench Brewery is striving to stay local in their ingredients. Citra Grove is dry hopped sour beer. Sampled on draught, the beer poured a slightly opaque pale yellow, with a thin white head. There was lots of dry – hopped citra on the nose as well as a tart sourness and fresh lemony citrus. The favour follows just as you expect from the nose. The beer is pleasantly sour, not too mouth puckering, but just enough (not quite as sour as a Berliner weisse, but getting there). The dry hopping imparts it’s own unique flavour. The citrus takes on a grapefruit quality with the hops. This is a simple brew and an interesting idea. Bright and refreshing.
